Love Through The Lens of Gratitude

Love Through The Lens of Gratitude

Love comes in many forms. There’s romantic love, yes, but also the love we share with family, friends, our communities, and even the love we extend to ourselves. When we pause to acknowledge the love we receive and give, we cultivate a deeper sense of gratitude, which in turn enriches our lives.
This is my fourth Valentine’s Day without Jerry. However, I still feel all the love from what we shared 25 years ago. That love is still dear to my heart, woven into my memories and daily life. But love doesn’t stop with one person or one relationship. I’ve also been blessed with friendships that have turned into family by choice, with extended family across the globe who continue to show me kindness and support. And then there’s Spike, who is with me 24/7, a constant source of unconditional love. Through all these connections, I am reminded that love is everywhere, in many forms, and for that, I am profoundly grateful.
Gratitude in love means noticing the small things—the way someone listens when we need to talk, the way a friend checks in, or even the silent presence of someone who understands us without words.
So, here’s my challenge for you this month:
1. Write a gratitude letter or message – to someone who has made a difference in your life. Tell them why you appreciate them.
2. Take time for self-love. – Reflect on what you’re grateful for in yourself—your strength, your kindness, your resilience.
3. Celebrate love in all forms. – Whether it’s a pet’s unconditional love, the bond of friendship, or the kindness of a stranger, take a moment to acknowledge and be grateful for it.
As we move through February, let’s shift our focus from just celebrating love to **expressing gratitude for love**—because when we do, we realize how much love already surrounds us.
